Ski Val D!The charm of Grimentz is immense!
This is a delightful and very uncrowded valley with the skiing based on the resorts of Grimentz, Zinal, St. Luc and Vercorin. The first two of these villages are linked by a free bus service, the journey lasting 16 minutes, running seven times a day. The others however are not linked and to take full advantage of all the skiing you really must have a car. The scenic and easy drive from Grimentz to Zinal takes 10 minutes and from either of these villages to St. Luc it is rather over 20 minutes. Taken as a whole, the Anniviers skiing is wonderful for all grades, with a long season owing to the altitude and direction of slopes. There are lovely walks and places to visit for the non-skier and Grimentz is particularly suited to families. Free skating on the natural rinks at Grimentz and Zinal is also possible. Epiney Sports and Intersport are both very close to the lift at Grimentz. Olympia Sport is close to the Zinal lift. At all these shops it is possible to leave hired equipment overnight free of charge.

Après Ski
Grimentz has a very good bar on the slopes near the lift from where you walk down to the sports shop and swimming pool. Included here are a pub and a disco. Zinal also has a swimming pool, pub and disco.
Getting to the Val d’Anniviers
From Geneva airport, station or from Lausanne, trains run frequently to Sierre. From here the post bus takes an hour to get to Grimentz and it involves a change in Vissoie. As stated, it is better to come by car, but prepare for steep hairpin bends on entering the valley. Do not fail to bring snow chains, a legal requirement in any case, although the roads are kept clear except when there is fresh snow on the road. If you travel at breakfast time from St. Pancras your arrival times in Grimentz and Zinal, using the Swiss public transfer , are 18.34 and 18.42 respectively . If you travel overnight from the UK you will arrive by mid morning if taking a taxi from Sierre.
