Sporting activities include
Hiking
There are countless miles of hiking trails in a very
lovely area, whilst south of Zinal the great Fourthousanders
such as the Weisshorn, Dent Blanche and Zinal Rothorn
beckon. The pristine Vallon de Réchy, near Vercorin,
is mentioned under the upper Rhône descriptions.
Mountaineering and rock climbing
Details of the many possibilities may be obtained from
the Grimentz and Zinal guides offices and the via ferrata
de Moiry is provided for those who are thinking of progressing
to proper climbing.

Other sports
Tennis, swimming (indoor pools at Grimentz
and Zinal, outdoor at Vissoie), mountain biking, paragliding,
canyoning and bungy jumping near Grimentz. The pool at Vissoie,
heated at 25-28°C, with its large sunbathing lawn etc.,
is open during July and August.

Discovering wildlife, Grimentz - a talk available
every Thursday at 19.00. At the Dianniviers watchtower on
the road to Moiry dam a hunter will tell you about his life’s

Music
There is a Folk Music Festival
over the first weekend of July and a meeting of mens alpine
choirs in September at Grimentz.

Hiking
250 km of trails and some of the best itineraries are described on the Nendaz website. The ancient irrigation channels (bisses) should also not be missed.
Mountaineering and rock climbing
Two artificial practice towers at the sports centre give an introduction to climbing and information on mountaineering in the area can be obtained from the guides office.
Other sports
Tennis (10 courts), squash, swimming in a splendidly sited outdoor pool, mountain biking, golf (18 hole course at Sion, 20 minutes away), paragliding and a vita parcours.
Events
The International Festival of the Alphorn takes place at Tracouet above Haute Nendaz from 24 - 26 July.
