Ski Superval

Veysonnaz, Haute Nendaz, La Tzoumaz and Verbier

Ski 4V!

By choosing hotels in these four resorts we have all the valleys of this marvellous ski region covered. The 4 valleys area, with 410 km of piste, apart from its sheer size, has something to offer every range of ability and preference. The top station of Mont Fort (3300m) provides spectacular views of many of the highest peaks in the Alps as well as the opportunity to ski or watch the experts descending one of the classic black runs. The celebrated snow bowl of Tortin, with its unpisted ‘ski tour’ routes from the Glacier lift, Mont Gelé and Chassoure, affords tremendous scope for the accomplished skier. Snowboarders are of course very well served throughout the region and off piste possibilities are superb.

With slopes facing in all directions, there is plenty of sun to be enjoyed, especially on the Verbier Savoleyres slopes during the morning. For the non-skier there are 90 km of winter hiking trails on cross country tracks and snowshoe excursions. Finally, the closeness of the resorts to the Rhône Valley means that access by car or train and post bus is excellent. Getting to the Resorts

From Geneva station or airport, trains run frequently to Sion. From here the postbus takes 30 minutes to get to Haute Nendaz. Buses to Veysonnaz are less frequent (approx. 7 times daily starting at 8.20 am approx). These take 35 minutes or so. Trains from Brig also meet up with the bus if you are travelling via Basel. It is however, as mentioned, most useful to have a car in Veysonnaz as it opens up many possibilities. The car drive up to Veysonnaz or Haute Nendaz takes 15-20 minutes from Sion. The daytime train from the UK (at breakfast time) will get you to Haute Nendaz or Veysonnaz by 19.00. The overnight train will enable you to reach both resorts by lunchtime, after what should be a sensational trip.

To reach La Tzoumaz (aka Mayens de Riddes) you must change trains at Martigny or Sion, if coming from Brig. By the Sion route, the station for

La Tzoumaz is Riddes, and the post bus from there to the resort takes 20-25 minutes. Taking a taxi up will save you a bit of time and effort but a breakfast departure from St. Pancras will get you to the resort by 19.30 using the post bus.

Finally, with an afternoon train departure from London and taking the earlier overnight sleeper from Paris, you will arrive at approx 11am in Haute Nendaz and 11.15pm in La Tzoumaz by taking a taxi from Riddes.

If you travel by train to Verbier on the 08.02 from London you change at Martigny and take the bus which delivers you to the resort by 19.25. At some other times you will take the train connection to Le Chable and from there on either by bus or by gondola, the last arrival being at 22.20. Staying overnight at Sembrancher is an excellent idea if travelling on a Friday. The overnight train will get you there by lunchtime.
