Ski Superval

Super Valais • 7 Super Valleys • Super Value
South of the Rhône and East of Lake Geneva lie seven splendid skiing valleys, watched over by the mighty "Fourthousanders". In fact, of the 80 4,000m peaks in the Alps, a third are to be found here. The awe inspiring Matterhorn, of course, dominates Zermatt and 43 of these great peaks lie within or on the border of the Swiss canton Valais, our ski region. The area’s reputation for sun, excellent snow conditions and wonderful long runs speaks for itself. The seven valleys with the resorts we cover are:

Saastal Saas-Fee, Saas Grund, Saas Almagell
Mattertal Zermatt
Val d'Anniviers Grimentz, Zinal, St. Luc, Vercorin
4 Valleys (Verbier Region) Veysonnaz, Haute Nendaz, La Tzoumaz, Verbier

We act as the point of contact for a number of handpicked 1 - 3* and even unstarred hotels, all of which offer excellent and in some cases outstanding value for money. Our main source of income is the commission given to us by these hotels, the benefits to you being:

• After hearing from you with your choice of hotel(s) we will telephone immediately for availability, firm prices, etc. The hotel you finally decide on will provide you with a booking confirmation, invoice and payment conditions.

• The booking that you make with the hotel will be at their quoted and listed price but we will have carried out a considerable amount of preparatory work for you.

• We can arrange a provisional booking before you make up your mind.

• We will, of course, provide you with the web addresses of the hotels you are interested in.

• We have specialist knowledge of the resorts such as their past snow records.

• We can also be of great help over travel, whether by plane, train or car and we can make bookings for you. With train travel from the UK you would be surprised by the low cost deals possible. Please see below for further details.

All prices shown are in Swiss Francs (currently approx. SFR 1.7 to £1.00).

We also have hotels other than those described on this website which we can contact on your behalf  but which tend to be very heavily booked.

In summary, our expertise enables you to make the best possible resort, accommodation and travel decisions at the cheapest prices available.

Notice for London and Bristol Area Clients

Bargain Packages at Saas-Fee and Zermatt available.

We can arrange some last minute bargain packages (cheap flights incl.) at Saas-Fee and Zermatt from 26 December - 4 January. More are to be had over Half Term (12 - 21 February) .

With budget flights and the excellent train and post bus transfer system throughout Switzerland, flying can work out very favourably for the independent traveller. Direct flights from Stansted to Sion are now available through SnowJet.co.uk and at the time of writing return flights in the lowest January weeks cost £150. When you consider how close our 4 Valleys and Val d'Anniviers resorts are to Sion airport this is excellent value. Geneva is the main airport for our resorts but there are another five, all of which are convenient.

Bearing in mind that the carrying of snow chains in winter in the Swiss Alps is compulsory we can strongly recommend that you look at www.roofbox.co.uk for chains and other accessories. Having a car in the 4 Valleys resorts is extremely useful
and in the Val d'Anniviers even more so.

Daytime or overnight from St. Pancras, Ebbsfleet or Ashford are all possible but it is vital to book months ahead for cheap tickets. We can arrange this for you through the Switzerland Travel Centre (or you can contact them yourself) so that you can make a provisional Eurostar booking 4 months ahead for the best price. You then book the Paris - Switzerland tickets 3 months ahead, the earliest that is allowed, and if that onward part is too costly, you can release the Eurostar booking at no charge. Believe it or not, there are seven different routes originating from Paris which take you into the Valais area of Switzerland. We will gladly provide details and help with bookings.

Transfers by Swiss public transport
These are reasonably priced for adults and a bargain for families with children under 16.

Flexibility – a great bonus
When travelling overnight by train from England, you arrive in the resort by lunchtime. Train travel by day
(
08.02) from St. Pancras will speed you to your destination in time for your evening meal. Alternatively, you can travel later and stay overnight in a pension, completing your journey the next day after breakfast. This may also be ideal for those driving out. The return journey provides similar flexibility and instead of 6 days, 8 days skiing is possible.

SWISS HOLIDAY COSTS
Given the exchange rate of the Swiss Franc to the Pound of Sfr 1.
7 approx., prices in Swiss resorts are highly competitive with those of the other alpine countries. In stark contrast to what the press are always telling us, Zermatt hotels offer, at the present exchange rate and that of the past few years, extraordinarily good value.

TWO CENTRE HOLIDAYS ON ONE SKI PASS
The skiing area of the 4 Valleys is vast, but well spread out. Staying for a week in Veysonnaz or Haute Nendaz and another in
Verbier or La Tzoumaz enables you to ski the whole region in a relaxed way instead of worrying about being a long haul from your resort and not making it back on the lifts that evening. A week on the sunny slopes of Saas-Grund followed by one in Saas-Fee also has much to commend it to the intermediate skier.

HOTEL PICTURES AND PAMPHLETS
Photographs of all the hotels are shown in each section and hotel pamphlets will be sent on request. When bookings are made, we can also provide the relevant ski maps to enable you to make some plans before you arrive in the resort.
